Story Circle support and frequently asked questions
If something goes wrong in Story Circle or you have a question, write to us in the app under Profile → Settings → Send feedback; if a reply is needed, we answer at your account’s email address, usually within a few working days. Below are short answers on writing and publishing, Story Coin (SC), account and language, reporting content and personal data.
Last updated:
How do you write a chapter, and when is it published?
An open chapter is written by whoever starts writing it first, and a chapter you submit is published on its own once it passes automatic content review.
How do I start writing a chapter?
Pick an open chapter in the Writing tab or on a book’s page and start writing. From that moment the chapter is yours alone for the writing time the book owner chose (between 1 and 72 hours, 24 by default); nobody else can write the same chapter at the same time. You can write one chapter at a time in any given book.
What happens if my writing time runs out?
The chapter opens up again and what you wrote stays with you as a draft; if the chapter is still open, you can start again and carry on from your draft. You get a notification an hour before your time is up. Letting go of the chapter during the first half of your time costs nothing; if the time runs out, or you let go in the second half, a small SC deduction may apply, and the app shows the current amount before you decide.
Why can’t I write directly under my own chapter?
The book owner may have turned on the consecutive-author rule. In that case you can start the open chapter directly under your own only after a waiting period (6 hours by default), so that others get a chance to write that continuation. The book owner is exempt.
Why wasn’t my chapter published right away?
Every submitted chapter goes through automatic content review before publishing; it is usually quick. If your chapter is flagged, you will see the reason in the app and can edit and resubmit or appeal the decision. If the book owner turned on “Let me see submissions too”, the chapter goes to them after review and is published on its own if they do not look within 24 hours.
Can I change a chapter after it is published?
Not directly — through a revision. The text you propose is reviewed against the content rules and for whether it breaks the chapters that follow, and then goes to the book owner for approval. If approved, the chapter is updated and the old version is kept; readers always see the latest approved version.
Who owns the rights to the chapter I write?
You do. You grant Story Circle only a non-exclusive license to publish, list and promote it on the platform.
How do I set up my own book?
Start from the “Create a new book” card in the Writing tab: you write the first chapter and choose the characters and rules, the writing time, whether the book branches, and the target chapter count. Setting up a book costs SC; the amount is shown before you confirm.
The whole loop is laid out step by step on how Story Circle works, and how to start writing a book explains what each choice changes when you set one up.
What is Story Coin (SC), and how do you earn it?
Story Coin (SC) is Story Circle’s in-app currency: you earn it by publishing chapters, signing in daily and reading, and spend it on setting up books, raising a book’s chapter target, appreciating a chapter and exporting a book. SC can’t be bought.
How do I earn SC?
When a chapter of yours is published, every day you sign in (with a bonus for a seven-day streak), and as you read chapters. New accounts start with an opening balance.
What can I spend SC on?
Setting up a book, raising a book’s target chapter count, appreciating a chapter you liked, and exporting a book as an EPUB or PDF file. SC spent on appreciation does not go to the author; the number of appreciations shows on the chapter.
Can SC be bought or turned into money?
No. SC can’t be bought, has no real-money value, cannot be transferred to anyone else and is not refundable.
Is Story Circle free?
Yes. The app is free to download and use, it shows no ads, and your data is not used for advertising.
What export and the other tools offer readers, writers and book owners is set out on the book writing app features page.
Where are the account, language and privacy settings?
Everything about your account is under Profile → Settings: language, notification preferences, privacy, password and email, active sessions, blocked users, your reports and account deletion.
How do I change the app’s language?
Profile → Settings → Language. Choose Device language, Türkçe or English; the language you pick is used in the app and in your notifications.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Settings → Delete my account. There is no waiting period: your account is deleted the moment you confirm, and this cannot be undone. Your account identity, sessions, notifications, reading lists and history, notes and quotes, blocked users, follows and unpublished drafts are permanently deleted. Your published chapters stay in the book with the author shown as “Deleted user”, and books you own stay published, with ownership passing to the platform. If you no longer have the app or can’t sign in, you can also request deletion by emailing sectioncritical@gmail.com from the address registered to your account, with the subject “Account deletion request”; see the account deletion page for details.
How do I sign out of another device?
Profile → Settings → Active sessions. You can see every device signed in to your account there and close any of them.
Who can see my profile?
If “Private profile” under Profile → Settings → My privacy is on, your profile is shown only to readers of books you contributed to; if it is off, anyone can see it.
Where can I download Story Circle, and is there an iOS version?
Story Circle is in closed testing on Google Play, and joining the closed test is by invitation. The public Android release comes to Google Play on November 1, 2026. There is no iOS version.
What should I do if I see inappropriate content?
Use the content’s own “Report” option: the report goes straight to the platform moderators and is reviewed together with the content it is about.
You can report a chapter, a comment, a book or a user, and follow what you reported and its outcome under Profile → Settings → My reports. If you would rather not see someone’s comments, you can block them; the people you blocked are under Profile → Settings → Blocked users.
Every chapter has passed automatic content review before it was published, but no review is perfect, and reports close the gap. The feedback screen is not for reporting content — for a piece of content, always use its own “Report” option.
How do I contact Story Circle support?
Write to us in the app under Profile → Settings → Send feedback; if a reply is needed, it goes to your account’s email address. If you can’t sign in, use the Can’t sign in link on the sign-in screen (Giriş yapamıyorum in Turkish); we reply to the address you enter there.
No email address is published on this site: every request comes from inside the app, so it reaches us together with the account it is about. When you report a bug, it helps a lot to say which screen you were on and what you were doing; for a suggestion, tell us what you were trying to do, not only what you would like added.
How do I make a request about my personal data?
You can correct your profile under Profile → Edit profile and delete your account under Profile → Settings → Delete my account or, without the app, by email as described on the account deletion page; for anything else, write under Profile → Settings → Send feedback (or, if you can’t sign in, use the Can’t sign in link on the sign-in screen) and we reply within 30 days at the latest.
How to exercise your rights under Article 11 of KVKK, the Turkish data protection law — to learn whether your data is processed, to ask for information, correction or deletion, and to object — is set out in section 8 of the KVKK Privacy Notice; what is erased and what stays behind anonymized when you delete your account is in section 8 of the Privacy Policy. If you find our reply insufficient, you can complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board.
The rules for using the app, the content license and how an account ends are in the Terms of Use. If your question is about a word rather than a situation, the creative writing terms glossary defines every term the app uses.
